About Me

Hi, I'm Sara! 👋🏻

I grew up in the Southwest and along the West Coast—Arizona, California, New Mexico, and Oregon — many cities, sometimes revisiting the same states. Part of my parents' quest to find Muslim communities to raise their young children in. 

I'm drawn to the unknown, and consider myself a lifelong seeker. My adult life has been spent immersing myself in other cultures, and worlds outside of the one I grew up in. Learning how the world operates outside of insular communities, and exploring my own relationships with identity, gender, and spirituality.

Until recently, it was rare to see many aspects of my experience represented in research or literature — perhaps because I did not know where to begin to look. When there’s no language developed for our experience, we create our own.
